HONG KONG (September 18th, 2017) - WGI Hong Kong, the local affiliate of international organization WGI, has today launched the Read & Rice program in the city. Read & Rice is an Asia based literacy program that teachers participating students how to read and write. Students, who are taught in English, also receive food for their participating.

“Hong Kong was WGI’s first major expansion. I’m proud to see our efforts in the city continue strongly” commented WGI Chairman & CEO Chance Wilson.

WGI Hong Kong has secured the HKFYG and Foodlink as local partners for the Read & Rice program. HKFYG is hosting the program at their various community centers across Hong Kong, helping WGI reach potentially thousands of children across the city. Foodlink is providing the food for the program, as part of the “Rice” element of Read & Rice.

Prior to launching Read & Rice, WGI provided free English classes to refugees in Hong Kong through a previous partnership.
